Virtual Game Night to be acquired by Trivia Party from December 27, 2021
Previously announced to end this holiday season, Virtual Game Night’s online events and offerings will now continue into 2022 and beyond following its acquisition by Trivia Party, a Manitoba-based virtual trivia startup founded by Brenton Thompson.
Bookings in 2021 will continue to be facilitated by Virtual Game Night Ltd and hosted by comedian Olly Robinson, who will host his final game with VGN as previously planned on December 23 2021. After closing for the holiday weekend, from December 27 games will be delivered by Trivia Party and hosted by their team of experienced live and virtual event hosts.
Virtual Game Night Ltd founder Ollie Southgate said, “I first met Brenton and the Trivia Party team in 2020 and was so impressed. After trying out their virtual trivia offerings I knew that we were equally committed to best-in-class events and experiences, and I couldn’t be leaving VGN in better hands.”
Virtual Game Night has been recognized as the internet’s best virtual game show experience by the Academy of Interactive & Visual Arts (AIVA) with two 2021 w3 Award wins (Best Virtual or Remote Mobile Experience and Best Mobile Game: Puzzle & Trivia), a 2021 Davey Award (Best Virtual Experience: Media & Entertainment) and a 2021 Webby Award nomination (Best Game: Puzzle & Trivia).
VGNL will continue to own VGN’s brands and properties for a short period in 2022 whilst Trivia Party takes over operations.
